The CR1 was completely redesigned in 2010, and is aimed specifically at the fast sportive/comfort-orientated racing market, which also makes it ideal for both century riding and competition use on the rough road surfaces of the UK!

Both contruction methods and geometry are different to the original CR1, with carbon tubing technology that is identical to that of the Addict and a slightly more upright riding position for long hours in the saddle. Combined with uniquely profiled seat stays, the new frame design is ultralight, fast and staggeringly smooth.

The latest CR1 is intended to sit alongside the Addict and Foil as a high end carbon bike that offers an alternative for riders who wish to emphasise comfort while sacrificing little in the way of speed, race handling and weight
The geometry of the new CR1 is performance oriented, but the top tube and head tube lengths offer a more comfortable position than pure racing frames.

The seatstays, chainstays and fork all feature SDS (Shock Damping System). These areas have been specially constructed with regard to tube shape, dimension, and carbon fibre layup to provide vertical compliance without sacrificing torsional stiffness. With a weight of just 860 grams (HMX carbon fibre in size 54) the frame’s lateral stiffness (which correlates to responsiveness during sprinting, acceleration, and climbing) enables direct power transfer and ensures both confident cornering and descending. Vertical compliance is a measure of how smoothly a bike rides. By maximizing vertical compliance, SDS cancels road vibrations, increasing rider confidence, stability and comfort.

Scott's engineers have developed IMP™ (Integrated Molding Process)- the newest technology applied to carbon production. The top tube, head tube and down tube are produced in a single step using a patented process. This allows for lighter construction by removing 11% of the material from the head tube intersection while increasing strength by utilizing high modulus HMF carbon composite fibres. IMP also increases strength by utilizing high modulus stressed fibres with more precise fibre placement in critical areas. The result of this exclusive combination is a truly unique stiffness/weight ratio. Complimenting the IMP process, CR1 frames benefit from Scott's Naked External Tube (NET) finish, which eliminates the cosmetic carbon layer to shave precious grams.
